Customized documentation refers to the creation of specific, detailed guides and manuals tailored to a particular CPM software implementation. Customizing documentation goes beyond standard product guides; they are created specifically for a single customer based on how the product was implemented for them.
Scenario: An international corporate entity has just installed CPM software system for the financial close process. Their implementation was highly custom and deviated significantly from the core functionality of the product.
Solution: The implementation team writes a set of customized documentation that includes a detailed user-guide for all standard and custom modules, a troubleshooting guide specifically addressing likely issues with the custom features, a reference manual, and one page documents specific to one off use cases for non-finance users.
This can get expensive quickly, especially when asking the implementation team to create long, drawn out documentation for their implementation. Instead, we recommend videos for this where appropriate. 1-3 minute explainers get a lot more use, and can be easily re-done as the product evolves over time. As anyone who has done home maintenance can attest, video explainers are much more useful than the old home repair books. Same goes for CPM tools.
