This requires that the CPM vendor offer a limited user type that only allows access to Dashboards. Dashboards are defined as a screen with charts, KPIs, and other visualizations that summarize and contextualize large data sets.
Scenario: Acme Corporation uses dashboards in their CPM tool to track various critical KPIs. They like to provide the entire company with access to these KPIs as a form of transparency, and to ensure that everyone is working towards the same set of goals.
Solution: By assigning Dashboard access to this large group of users, they can now open up access to the CPM tool and provide up to date, useful visualizations and KPIs to the broader company. This saves the finance and reporting team the trouble of creating custom dashboards for each team each month.
Data visualizations in dashboards are often the easiest way to provide understandable data to non-financial users. This role allows CPM data to be distributed to a much larger user base in an organization, as dashboards are the first place where a non-finance user will head when giving access. These are often the landing pages for everyone, no matter their experience level.
Not all CPM tools have a specific “dashboard” user. This may be wrapped into the Report Only role.
